Productivity Laws for Individual Excellence

I'm listing some productivity laws, which will help in excelling at studies or work. These doesn't include leadership related topics, which will be dealt separately. This is just listing, if you are interested in any specific law, please find more on google or youtube.

  • Parkinson’s Law

    • Work expands to fill the time given for it’s completion

    • Corollary: the more time a task is given, the harder it will become.)

    • Kabir - Kal kare so aaj kar

  • Pareto Principle or 20-80 Rule(Pareto principle in economy) Eg. 80% marks come from 20% syllabus.

  • Prioritise

  • Focus and intensity: Do one thing at a time. Avoid multi tasking - doing many things simultaneously eg. Eating while reading or while chatting on mobile.

  • Power of Compounding : Small steps done consistently, for extended period of time will yield significant results

  • Use it or lose it : body and mind powers.

  • Don’t be – ‘penny wise and pounds foolish’ and don’t sweat small stuff.

  • Stress management : Be in harmony with nature(wake up before sunrise, sleep early after sunset), socialise.

  • Power of discipline, routine and ritual.

  • Sharpen your axe before cutting trees(Develop your skill through training in particular area/field, if you have to work in that area for long time). Eg. learn MS Office or programming if you are going to work in Computers.

  • Important decisions in life should be taken after due deliberation after weighing all options, as they lay strong foundation, set our future course and make you. There is no point in landing at wrong place and struggling there. You have to take charge of your decisions and their consequences. When you pick one end of stick, other end automatically follows. Right decisions will save lot of your time and energy, and give you peace of mind. Eg. Which school to join, which college to join for 10+2 and graduation, which profession to choose, which life partner to choose etc.

  • Learning by doing: Teach to others, if you have to master a subject.

  • Seeing is believing: Do simple experiments, or visit places physically.
